Rebirth of Cool: The Remix Project - MNM Marketing Solutions is proud to present this exclusive remix project that will be performed for the first time by the band made up of leading jazz lights Thandi Ntuli, Benjamin Jephta, Sphelelo Mazibuko, Linda Sikhakhane, Sthembiso Bhengu, Senzo Ngcobo and DJ Kenzhero. The public can view this on an online livestream on the 13th of June at 5pm on Madeby.africa.
"This is a special live stream project that will be broadcasting the first performance by the band since November 2019. This performance is special simply because the band will be playing remixes of their original songs. This is a never heard before concept and material," says DJ Kenzhero, band member and co-owner of MNM Marketing Solutions.
Through Concerts SA’s Mobility Fund that has contributed to the project, "we will see this special ensemble that comprises award winning personnel amongst them have won Standard Bank Jazz artists of the year, a South African Hip Hop Hall of famer and SAMRO Overseas Scholarship in 2016 and more”.
The ensemble is formed by Thandi Ntuli, Benjamin Jephta, Sphelelo Mazibuko, Linda Sikhakhane, Sthembiso Bhengu, Senzo Ngcobo and DJKenzhero. This will be taking place at Gallery Momo and this recording will include two special DJ sets by DJ Kenzhero and Tha Muzik respectively.
The Rebirth of Cool is a compilation album by American jazz musician, Miles Davis, released in 1957. Featuring unusual instrumentation and several notable musicians, the music consisted of innovative arrangements influenced by classical music techniques such as polyphony and marked a major development in post-bebop jazz.
Rebirth of Cool is the blending of these iconic art-forms, where jazz and hip hop collide in spectacular fashion. The Rebirth of Cool experience is delivered by a seven-piece band accompanied by a DJ to deliver an amazing live music experience. The sound of the band is influenced by the 60s jazz era, 90s hip hop and RnB, and the-now’s jazz/hip hop fusion. Rebirth of Cool is primarily known for its live performances.
