There is a field of untapped and unscathed musical artistry buried in the heart of uMzimkhulu in KwaZulu-Natal and our guest on this week, D.O.X RSA is determined to take all the support and knowledge he has collected back home. We engaged Teboho in an insightful discussion about growing up in Umzimkhulu and the tunnel vision mentality life in a small rural town can harbor in a person looking to pursue music as a career. Our guest holds the strong belief that taking jewels home forms the most vital part of his journey.

Our new segment for artists who are not poets ‘Bring a Poem’ proved to be a true gem, at The Queens Fortress because we believe that all persons should consume poetry and Teboho availed himself for the occasion. Teboho serenaded us with two goose bump giving live performances accompanied by an incredible guitarist Roberto Marlon Britton. One of which he titled ‘Flower Girl’ is off the deluxe version of his well-received Ep Testify.

This week’s episode of the Queens Fortress focuses on raising boys who women do not fear. Poet, writer, photographer and performer Clear, invites us into the world of raising a son in South Africa. Clear quotes the proverb “evil enters through the hole of a needle and spreads like an oak tree,” to describe how patriarchy grows in men and creates the violent and angry men we all have in our lives. He teaches his son Lethabo to cry, to vocalise his emotions and to combat the violence that grows with men not being true to their emotions.
